With travel quarantine in full swing, I might not be going to Australia anytime soon but nothing is stopping me from going after the bohemian vibes we all love. Especially now that we’re finally easing into crisp cool weather. And Australian brands make hands-down the most gorgeous bohemian dresses, there’s something about their prints that are just effortlessly lively without going OTT.

Enter Jaase — an Australian brand that draws inspiration from Sydney’s Northern beaches. Think flowy dresses and bright, colourful prints. Their pieces can only be purchased via official stockists, which is why when Salty Crush offered me the chance to road-test their bohemian pieces, I jumped at the opportunity. Today, I’ll be featuring 3 of their most iconic bohemian silhouettes, including a piece in an exclusive print for Salty Crush.

Carmen Maxi Dress

What’s a bohemian styling post without a flowy maxi dress, especially one that comes in my namesake? The Carmen style is one of Jaase’s signature silhouettes, and this warm-toned Spirit print is a Salty Crush exclusive. The dress features cap sleeves, a high waistline, pockets(!) and a front slit for a maximum swish.

It was still pretty hot in Hong Kong so I wore it alone with my favourite Will & Bear Calloway Fawn wool fedora and Sandro ankle leather boots. It would look great in cooler months with a cropped jacket layered on top too!

Adela Mini Dress

A traditional boho silhouette, the Adela is less of a mini dress and more of a flouncy tent style. The elasticated cuffs and tie neckline give the dress more definition, juxtaposing the oversize fit.

The Eternity print is a high-contrast floral print with elaborate borders around the hem and cuffs. To balance the florals, I opted for a coordinating hair scarf and chunky Sandro Grant Ranger Leather Booties. I imagine belting it in would look great and the reduced length would make it perfect for knee boots. Again, this dress comes with functional side pockets which is a big bonus!

Chloe Peasant Blouse

A shorter take on the Adela style, the Chloe style also features elasticated sleeves and a gathered hem that falls beyond the seat. With Hong Kong being Hong Kong, people just seem to stare whenever you wear bohemian dresses, so a peasant blouse would be the perfect entry-level piece to test your gipsy style.

The Royal print is a cobalt blue version of the black Eternity print above, and I love how they give off completely different vibes on different pieces. As the hem is pretty long, I did a French tuck and paired it with the Soludos Classic Ankle Wrap Espadrilles.
