Rocking Very Peri with Linjer’s Isle of Paradise Collection
Purple has lived outside my comfort zone and has never been a coveted colour in my wardrobe.
It’s far too easy to end up looking either dated or clownish; it rarely boded well with a serious tan and often made my skin look sallow. But by leaning into contemporary lilac shades like Pantone's latest Very Peri, I’ve found that my warm undertones can just about pull off these more whimsical hues.
Very Peri is a dynamic periwinkle blue with a vivacious violet-red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red. Pantone designed this electrically charged shade to reflect the global innovation and transformation underway, serving as a symbol of the zeitgeist and the transition we are experiencing as we emerge from a period of isolation. It’s purple with an ambitious, bold heart.
I first started dabbling in gold vermeil pieces when I grew frustrated by how quickly costume jewellery would dull. Your ultrasonic cleaner may remove grime or dirt, but there’s only so much it can do – and it doesn’t include replating tarnished jewellery. And Linjer popped up on my local radar. Named after the Norwegian word for “lines”, Linjer (read: liin-yir) uses a direct-to-consumer model to offer quality pieces at an affordable price. Its 14K gold vermeil gives a rich, warm golden hue without coming across as tawdry, and with proper care, these pieces will last for a long time.
This month’s gorgeous statement ring is from Linjer’s latest drop, the Isle of Paradise collection. Inspired by summer and wanderlust, the collection features jewelled tones in necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. During these trying times, it’s crucial to maintain a sense of inner calm and take care of yourself. The Window to my Soul Ring in deep lavender does just that—every time I look down at my hands, I see a reminder to be present and feel a little boost of sass that tugs at the corner of my mouth. The ring’s simple bezel setting and soft curves take its boldness down a notch, making the pop of colour easy to style for everyday wear.
To keep the set from feeling dated, I opted for hand-drawn Y2K swirls over a sheer, pale mauve base that melts into the skin. The real magic, however, lies in the accent nails—what I like to call "unicorn nails"—created with iridescent mermaid powder over a smudged lilac-blue base, topped with holographic stars. It creates this 3D depth that mimics the shifting light of a moonstone and is specifically designed to echo the Elisa Ring. While more subtle, it flashes beautifully in the sun, where the rainbow moonstone dances with an iridescent sparkle. It’s a bohemian touch that pairs perfectly with dainty gold vermeil bands.
Wearing these pieces together feels like a gentle boost of sass for the soul. I’ve spent far too long staring at my knuckles, but when the gold vermeil catches the light against those holographic stars, can you really blame me?
