Amethyst: A Dreamy Violet Affair for February

Hello, fellow amethyst girls.

It’s February, and everything feels a little softer, a little more alive with possibility. If you ask me, the world needs more colour this time of year—cue amethyst, February’s birthstone. Whether you’re a birthday celebrant or just a lover of purple hues, amethyst has a captivating way of adding sparkle to everyday moments, almost like a cheeky sprinkle of witchy magic.

Amethyst: Royalty and Spirituality

“Amethyst” comes from the ancient Greek “amethystos”, meaning “not intoxicated”—a nod to the gemstone’s legendary reputation for protecting its wearer from drunkenness and negative influences. But these days, amethyst’s allure is less about ancient myths and more about how its dreamy violet colour instantly elevates your look (and, dare I say it, your mood).

Amethyst hues can range from delicate lavender to deep, regal purple. The stone’s cool undertones make it gorgeous set in silver, but there’s something undeniably luxurious about pairing it with gold, which creates a striking contrast that highlights amethyst’s natural luminosity—think of it as a bit of gemstone mood lighting. Repeat amethyst tones in your ring, necklace, and earrings for a cohesive look—but don’t be afraid to let a single piece pop against an otherwise neutral outfit.

Symbolically, amethyst is known for qualities like clarity, calm, and spiritual balance. It’s often called the “stone of peace,” ideal for anyone looking to manifest tranquillity or simply add a touch of intention to their daily stacks. I personally reach for amethyst when I want to feel a bit more grounded, and I love how its dash of colour (that still feels grown-up) brings a sense of self-assuredness to whatever I’m wearing—even on Mondays when confidence feels in short supply.

Caring for Amethyst Jewellery

Amethyst is relatively sturdy, but harder gemstones can still scratch it—never throw amethyst pieces into a pile with diamond rings. When cleaning, use lukewarm water and mild soap, and a soft brush to clean around the prongs and settings; never steam or use harsh chemicals. Amethyst can fade if left in direct sunlight, losing its purple vibrancy. Always store it in a cool, dark place, preferably wrapped in a soft cloth. If your pieces start to look a little dull, a quick polish with a lint-free cloth brings back their signature glow.

The February Birthstone Jewellery Edit

From left to right, top to bottom

1 | Stacker Ring

A delicate stacker in 18k gold vermeil, this ring features a dainty amethyst that plays well with others—bundle it with your favourite bands or let it shine solo for a sweet, meaningful touch.

2 | Pendant Necklace

There’s nothing more classic than a birthstone pendant. This one, set in recycled sterling silver, is hypoallergenic and perfect for daily wear. I love how it sits just at the collarbone—layer it with chunkier chains for a bit of edge.

3 | Leather Jewellery Case

Not a gemstone piece, but who wouldn’t want a matching padded box to store keepsakes in? It’s the perfect size for the vanity, and you can add a bespoke touch with an embossed monogram. Also available in a gorgeous wine suede.

4 | Beaded Bracelet

Elastic beaded bracelets are my go-to for stacking, and this one brings together an amethyst bead, glossy enamel charm, and a tiny diamond in 14k gold. It’s playful perfection—wear it alone or pile on the colour.

5 | Clip Charm

The ultimate add-on: this rhodium-plated silver charm clips onto chain necklaces and mini hoops, so you can instantly amp up your favourite ear stack.

6 | Necklace and Bracelet Set

Minimal, matching, and made for layering, this set in 18k gold vermeil is adjustable and effortlessly chic. Complimentary engraving on the back means you can add a date or initials for that extra personal touch.

7 | Puffy Ring

My favourite is a bold, chunky ring inspired by the Charlotte cake, set with a statement amethyst in 14k yellow gold. This is the jewellery equivalent of dessert first: oversized, sweet, and joyfully unapologetic.

8 | Stud Earrings

Dainty ear stacks are still a thing, and these stackable studs pack punchy tones without overpowering your outfit. These 3mm stones set in 14k solid gold look fantastic as a second piercing or on the helix.
